GABBY MOLLOY

Often regarded as one of the "OG" pioneers of structured mountain bike skills coaching, Gabby Molloy co-founded the original MTB Skills Clinics in New Zealand in 2003 alongside her late partner, James “Dodzy” Dodds.

At the time, both were travelling and racing internationally for New Zealand bike brand, Keewee Bikes and later GT Bicycles, immersed in the evolving global gravity scene. What began as skills sessions between race commitments quickly grew into one of New Zealand’s most recognised coaching programmes, helping more than 5,000 riders develop greater safety, speed, and confidence on the bike.

During this era, Dodzy went on to co-found the innovative gearbox bike brand Zerode and establish NZ Trail Solutions — a pioneering trail-building company that has since delivered world-class projects internationally and provided employment for hundreds of young New Zealanders.

Following Dodzy’s passing, Gabby relocated to Italy with her husband Matteo Nati, and continued racing, guiding, and coaching in Finale Ligure — renowned for its steep, loose rock, technical exposure, and demanding terrain. It was here that her coaching philosophy really evolved and deepened further. The unforgiving nature of the terrain required not just confidence-building, but true mechanical understanding of bike dynamics and stability. The experience became instrumental in refining what is now known as the MTB Skills™ Method.
