Dropping Turns
Dropping turns can feel terrifying.
The ground falls away, the bike begins to tip into the slope, and your instinct is usually to protect yourself.
But what if that instinct is actually creating the problem?
A small change in your feet, legs or body position can quietly remove pressure from the front tyre just as you need grip, steering and braking the most.
Then the tyre slides.
The bike feels out of control.
And suddenly the turn confirms exactly what you were afraid of.
In this episode, we look at why steep dropping turns so often unravel before the rider has even reached the apex — and how braking, stability and front-wheel grip all come together in one of the most important lessons in the cornering series.
Because before we start worrying about leaning, line choice or advanced body position, there is one thing every corner needs first:
a front tyre you can trust!
