Applying Seesaw

back to all videos

Once you understand the Seesaw Position, the next question is:

Where should you actually use it?

Because this is not a body position to ride around in all day.

It is a tool for very specific situations — fast rough terrain, slippery surfaces, loose rocks, steps and anywhere the bike needs room to move underneath you.

In this episode, we start reading the trail differently by asking a simple question:

Is this terrain asking me to create grip... or absorb impacts?

You will also see how the same low, balanced position can help with speed, slippery terrain and following the shape of the ground while your head and body remain comparatively calm above the bike.

And then we get to the difficult part:

what happens when you need to brake and absorb at the same time?

That is where two opposite skills begin to overlap and we will get to that later!
